My top vegetarian finger foods for the Super Bowl
So apparently there’s some American sporting event going on this weekend? The Super… Plate? Heh, only joking, I know what the Super Bowl is (am I the only one who finds myself funny?). Although, I may have had to Google it to work out what sport it involved… not even joking.
Anyway, apparently for Americans, the Super Bowl means finger food. What better opportunity to be completely narcissistic, and show you which of my recipes you should make this weekend?
So here goes, my top vegetarian finger foods – to eat with or without getting sport (ugh, exercise) involved.
Crisps – the ultimate finger food. A batch of homemade crisps takes just minutes in the microwave, and you can fully customise your flavour combinations. (However – I wouldn’t recommend making these for a large party, or minutes might turn into hours…)
Mini versions of my veggie en croute would make perfect little vegetarian sausage rolls – and lazing on the sofa all afternoon definitely calls for a bit of junk food (nobody needs to know that it’s not actually all that bad for you).
If this isn’t an occasion for making my carrot and cheddar bites, I don’t know what is. Crunchy on the outside and soft and cheesy inside, these bitesized treats won’t last long. If they make it to half-time I’d be impressed (ummm… does American football have half-time?)
Pizza’s great (understatement of the century), but it can get a bit messy, and who wants to be rushing off to wash your hands every five minutes when you’re trying to watch the game? Try these individual pizza cups instead.
I’m picturing these easy lentil burgers in some cute little slider buns – perfect TV food.
What’s better than a juicy mushroom stuffed with garlic, cheese, parsley and breadcrumbs? …anyone?
Cook up a batch of these and watch them disappear. Unbelievably light and fluffy (so you still have room for all the other stuff).
Okay, who am I kidding – this isn’t finger food at all. But there was no way I could leave these off. I still dream about these chickpeas.
If you’re after something sweet, try these cookie dough bites – they’re egg-free, so feel free to eat the whole batch… or something.
For something a little on the healthier side, try these cute little filo tarts with Greek yoghurt, fresh fruit and strawberry jam.
