🥚 Top Tips for Cooking with Eggs

  • To make the perfect fried egg, I like to use a fairly low heat in a non-stick pan. This allows the white to cook through without getting any crispy bits (which I’m not a fan of!). I then flip the egg over for just a few seconds before serving, which avoids any gooey bits of egg white, while still allowing the yolk to remain runny.
  • Scrambled eggs are also best cooked over a fairly low heat, with a good knob of butter and some salt and pepper. Cook them slowly, stirring regularly, to make them soft and creamy. Don’t overcook.
  • Eggs are sometimes fine to eat even after the ‘Best Before’ date. To check whether an egg is fresh, place it in a jug of water. If the egg sinks, it’s fresh enough to eat. If it floats, get rid of it. Of course, if it’s past the Best Before date, you should make sure it looks and smells right before eating it too!
